Asperger syndrome

Asperger syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that primarily affects a person's ability to socialise and communicate appropriately.

How can we help with Asperger's Syndrome?

Assessment and detection of Asperger syndrome

  • Medical history and interview with parents or carers: We obtain detailed information about the patient's development, their social and communication skills, as well as their interests and areas of difficulty.

  • Direct observation and assessment of social behaviour: We observe the patient's interaction in different contexts to identify patterns of communication and socialisation.

  • Use of specific diagnostic tools for ASD: we apply standardised tests and questionnaires designed to assess the characteristics associated with the disorder.

Scheduling sessions for Asperger's Syndrome

  • Setting communicative and social goals: We set realistic goals to improve the patient's communication and social skills, taking into account their individual interests and needs.

  • Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) Strategies: We teach techniques and tools that can be useful for improving communication, such as the use of visual communication systems or assisted communication applications.

  • Social skills training: We work on aspects such as recognising emotions, social reciprocity, taking turns in conversation, and interpreting non-verbal social cues.

Intercession in the educational and social context

  • Simulation of social situations: We use role-play techniques to practise social interactions in a controlled environment and guide the patient on how to respond appropriately.

  • Support in interacting with peers: We encourage participation in group activities and provide strategies to facilitate social integration.

  • Collaboration with educators and other professionals: We work closely with teachers and education professionals to adapt the school environment and provide additional support to the patient.

Process monitoring

  • Monitoring social and communication skills: We conduct regular assessments to measure progress and adjust the treatment plan as necessary.

  • Incorporating strategies into the daily routine: We provide guidelines and activities that patients and their families can practise to reinforce progress in different contexts.

  • Collaboration with the family and ongoing guidance: We offer support and guidance to families to facilitate the implementation of strategies at home and support the patient's long-term development.
