dyslexia
Dyslexia is a learning disorder that affects the ability to read, write, and process language fluently.

How do we rehabilitate dyslexia?
Diagnosis of dyslexia
- Assessment of literacy: We conduct a comprehensive assessment that includes specific tests, using standardised tests such as Prolexia, PROLEC, PROESC, TALE-2000, etc. Using these assessment scales, we make an accurate and appropriate diagnosis.
- Anamnesis and interview: We collect information about educational history, language development, and any family history of reading difficulties.
- Preparation of reports for schools: As part of our work with dyslexia, we produce reports so that schools can make the necessary curricular adjustments, such as allowing extra time for exams, not penalising spelling mistakes, adapting university entrance exams, etc.
Therapy for dyslexia
-
Individualised intervention design: We develop a personalised treatment plan that addresses the patient's specific areas of difficulty, focusing on reading, writing, fluency, and comprehension.
- Working in a ‘pyramid’ structure: The treatment of dyslexia follows the most current scientific evidence. The work begins with phonological awareness, followed by grapheme-phoneme conversion, until reading fluency, written expression and reading comprehension are improved.
-
Development of phonological skillsWe implement exercises to improve phonemic awareness and decoding, such as sound segmentation and blending.
-
Promotion of reading comprehension strategiesWe teach techniques to improve comprehension, such as identifying key ideas and inferring meaning from context.
Working with schools
-
Collaboration with the school environmentWe work closely with teachers to implement adaptations and strategies in the classroom that support students with dyslexia.
-
Technical support: We introduce specialised tools and software that can facilitate reading and writing, such as read-aloud programmes or word processors with correction functions.
-
Strategies for self-esteem and motivationWe assist patients in developing a positive attitude towards learning and overcoming challenges, promoting self-confidence.
Process of acquiring literacy
-
Progress monitoring: We conduct regular assessments to evaluate the patient's progress and make adjustments to the treatment plan as necessary.
-
Support for transition to higher levels: We prepare patients to face new challenges in their education by providing additional strategies and encouraging independence in learning.
-
Family counselling: We offer guidance to parents on how to support their child at home, providing resources and strategies that complement the speech therapist's work.
