What should be done about the RSL?

When there is a delay in language development

  • Medical history and interview with parents or carers: We collect detailed information about language development, family history, and any concerns observed.

  • Language development assessment: We conduct specific tests to assess the level of language comprehension and expression, as well as the correct use of grammar and vocabulary.

  • Exploration of contributing factors: We investigate possible causes or factors that may be influencing language delay, such as hearing problems or other medical conditions.

Treatment planning for language delay

  • Setting language development goals: We set realistic and specific goals to improve the child's language comprehension and expression, tailored to their individual needs.

  • Design of personalised activities and exercises: We create activities and materials that focus on the child's areas of difficulty and encourage their language development.

  • Incorporation of motivational strategies: We employ methods that engage the child's interests and motivations to maintain their participation and enthusiasm during sessions.

Language delay therapy

  • Language stimulation and vocabulary expansion: We employ techniques to promote the development of new words and phrases, as well as the understanding of linguistic concepts.

  • Promotion of functional communicationWe work on practical communication skills that are useful for children in their daily lives.

  • Family involvement: We provide guidance to parents on how to support language development at home, with suggestions for activities and strategies.

Checking for proper linguistic development

  • Monitoring language development: We conduct regular assessments to measure progress and adjust the treatment plan as necessary.

  • Incorporating strategies into the daily routine: We provide guidelines and activities that children and families can practise outside of therapy sessions to reinforce progress.

  • Collaboration with other professionals: Where necessary, we work together with other specialists, such as occupational therapists or physiotherapists, to address more complex needs.
